Rutherford's Model of ATOM

On the basis of Scattering Experiment, Rutherford proposed a model of atom also known as Nuclear Atom. According to it,
(i). An atom consists of nucleus and extra- nuclear part.
(ii). The nucleus is small positively charged part of atom. It is situated at the center and carries almost the entire mass of the atom.
(iii). The positive charge of nucleus is due to the protons. Since the number of protons in the nucleus of different atoms is different, so, the magnitude of positive charge on the nucleus differs from atom to atom.
(iv). Extra – nuclear part consists of all electrons of the atom revolving around the nucleus in circular paths called Orbits.
(v). Atom as whole is neutral, so the number of protons is equal to the number of electrons.
